Report to the Executive Committee of the Leadership Development Committee
January 23, 1999

The Leadership Development Committee had a reasonably active year in 1998
beginning with an update of the training manual to make it current with the
changing situation with IEEE Headquarters.  A training session for Region 3
Committee Chairs was presented at the January 16, 1998 meeting of the
Executive Committee.  This was followed by a training session for Section
Officers held in conjunction with SoutheastCon ’98 in Orlando on April 25,
1998.  Committee member Jim Beall conducted special Section Officer training
sessions for the Jamaica Section in Kingston, Jamaica in May and also one for
the Florida Council in November, both resulting from special request from
these organizational entities.

The Institute had a training emphasis in 1998 and Region 3 was requested and
did send copies of our training manual to Region 5, the Vice President for RAB
and the President of IEEE USA for assistance in the development of their
training programs.

The Committee will again offer the Section Officers’ training session at
SoutheastCon ’99 in Lexington, KY.  We encourage all section representative
who will be at the Region 3 Committee meeting at that Conference to plan to
participate in this training.  Additional section officers who can attend that
Conference are also welcomed and encouraged to attend.
