Area 3 Report to Region 3 Excom

The Atlanta Section and the Central Georgia Section have been very active in
getting their new executive committees organized and functioning. The
Savannah Section is on a July to June fiscal year and will be considering
the impact of changing to an annual calendar.

The new arrears list is currently available for distribution  in the
February 1999 update of the SAMIeee membership data. The local section is an
important element in retaining members so immediate action is needed . The
contact should be as direct and personal as the resources of the section
will allow. This can take the form of a personalized letter, e-mail messages
or direct contact via telephone. Networking can take many forms and the
rewards are significant.

The retention of members and the action required at the local level will be
one of the topics for discussion at the Area / Council Meetings at
SoutheastCon.

Input  regarding  content of the Area 3 Web Site is being sought. Please
send your ideas to w.ratcliff@IEEE.org and / or bring them to the Region 3
Meeting.
