Steven L .Bobo Vice-Chair



The current officers were elected November of 1998 and will serve through
December 1999.  The current officers are as follows:  Mark Stokes  chair,
Steven Bobo vice-chair, Wayne Cockrell secretary/treasurer.  We have
combined the secretary and treasurer positions this year.

Recently we have created a major domo list of member e-mail.  We are
currently doing a trial of sending just the e-mail version of the
newsletter trying to prevent the duplication of members getting a paper and
electronic version.  The major issue is that some members do not receive
the letter due to their not having an e-mail address.  The meeting
announcements are however posted at the section web sight and the meetings
consistently the same day every month.  We are going to pursue this for a
few months and see what the reaction from the membership will be.  If it is
un-favorable we will revert back to a traditional mail and e-mail
announcement.

Our major project this year as been the preliminary planning for Southeast
Con 2001.  We are at present working with local hotels and facilities to
ensure that both parties have the necessary information for a  successful
conference.

The section is planning its second annual student social with the Clemson
University  Student Chapter.  We plan to have a cook out prior to the
Clemson vs Georgia Tech baseball game on April 24  in front of the Clemson
baseball stadium.  Any Region 3 members that would like to take part or
