The section is meeting monthly with various professional information activities. Attendance at monthly meeting is up slightly from last year, with 14-18 members active. The section continues to have difficulty-finding members who will volunteer for officer positions. The current section officers are reelected from last year. The chairman is also serving in several collateral positions in the section. The section’s primary goal for next year is to complete the revision and updating of the section constitution and bylaws. The current documents date from 1964. Paducah Subsection: The Paducah section is inactive, with no elected officers at this time. Wayne Priddy, the last elected chairman hopes to get help from the Evansville-Owensboro section to get the subsection back in action. Lexington Section: Chairman Ray Williams reports that the Lexington Section is continuing along about the same as it has in past years, attendance at the meetings averages about 15 professionals and 5 to 15 students. The section has held three EXCOM meetings and two regular meetings since the summer recess. A joint student branch and professional meeting was held in September. They toured the Morehead State University Radio telescope in October. The November meeting was canceled but they plan a joint Louisville/Lexington meeting in December The section has nominated an individual for the Region 3 Outstanding Service Award and 7 members for Millennium Awards. The section Chair attended Sections Congress in Dallas and the Professional Development Conference in Minneapolis The section’s goal is to have a section web page by the end of Chairman William’s term. By posting the newsletter and meeting notices on the web page the section hopes to reduce their mailing costs and save both work and money. Louisville Section Chairman C. R. Davis reports that the year is going well for the Louisville section. The section has been active with good attendance. The section is one member short of establishing a Power Society. The Computer Society is very active and doing well. A new student branch has been established at ITT Technical Institute in Louisville. The section nominated seven members for Third Millenium Awards. The section's primary goal for next year is to expand their Friends of IEEE program to involve more local industries.
