Report of Nominations and Appointments Committee

To: Region 3 Executive Committee e-conf meeting January 29, 2000


It is not only the beginning of a new millennium , but also the start of a 
new Region Director's term  for the 2000 - 01 time period.  Every two years 
the leadership of the region changes and with it the committee and job 
assignments of the region Executive Committee.  

I have accepted the position of Nominations and Appointments Committee Chair. 
 The other members are Debbie Powers and Dale Caston (the committee is made 
up of the three most recent past directors willing to serve).  The obvious 
charge to this committee is to provide nominations and suggested appointments 
to the Director and the ExCom.  This is where the Entity and Committee Chairs 
come in.  We need your input to find willing knowledgeable volunteers to take 
on the many positions in the region.

We need to search out at least two candidates for Region Director Elect for 
2002-03 (Director for 2004-05)  Jim Howard is our Director Elect for 2000-01 
(Director 2002-03). 

To accomplish this mission we need to start now so as to have candidates to 
present to the Section Chairs and other voting members of the Region 3 
Committee in the fall of 2000 for approval to be placed on the ballot.  The 
actual election takes place September to November 1, 2001.  Please send me 
your suggestions.
