Section reports for 1999 and the slate of new officers for 2000 were completed and submitted to HQ on time. 2. Our section awards and recognition banquet was held aboard the Starlite Princess Riverboat in January, 2000. Millennium awards, local educator awards and Section awards were handed out while our members enjoyed an evening of dinner, dancing and inland waterway cruising. 3. In February, along with 16 other Engineering Organizations from the Tampa Bay area we celebrated Engineers week with a Dinner banquet at the Biltmore hotel in Clearwater. Our Section also celebrated Engineers Week with a joint Section and PES/IAS Luncheon. 4. We held monthly Executive Committee meetings to plan and coordinate section activities and continue to cosponsor meetings with the ASME, International Council on System Engineering, ISA and American Society on Quality. Since the beginning of the year have held a record 19 meetings. This month we are exploring start up of a Life Member Chapter and will hold an organizational meeting in the Sarasota area. Having surveyed our members we found there are many retirees in the Sections Southern area (Sarasota and Fort Myers) who would like to participate in IEEE activities. 5. We continue to have two active student branches, EE's and Computer Science. Both groups are USF based, active and well represented at our monthly ExCom meetings. Last month we cosponsored with USF College of Engineering an Industry/government/education forum (very successful) and due to careful student pricing and marketing we signed up some 52 new student IEEE members! 6. Our Industrial and Commercial Power Systems (I&CPS) Conference preparations continue on track and from all indications it should be very successful. Pick up a FWCS SIGNAL newsletter and fill out the registration form. May 7-11, 2000. Regards, Al Rosenheck FWCS Chair
