Section activities, officers, and financial reports were completed and submitted to IEEE Headquarters on time. 2. Members of the Section Executive Committee attended an Engineers banquet held by the Canaveral Council of Technical Societies. Keynote speaker was Mr. Alfredo Teran, founder of AJT & Associates, a Brevard County Engineering firm. Mr. Alfredo spoke about lessons learned during the startup of his firm. 3. Monthly business meetings are held and are usually well-attended by ExComm members, Chapter Chairs, and interested parties. Meetings are held at a coffee shop in downtown, Melbourne. Coffee and desserts are paid for by the Section. 4. The Section has one active Chapter of the EMC Society. This Chapter was founded and had two meetings before December 31, allowing the Section to claim it as an active Chapter in 1999 activities reporting. 5. The Section is actively pursuing the start of a new Chapter of the Computer Society. This will merge with the local Linux Users Group, as the founder of the Chapter is already heading up that group. 6. So far, one general Section meeting is planned for May 9. The Section has invited Mr. Alfredo Teran, who spoke at the CCTS Engineers Week banquet, to give an expanded version of his talk to the Section. This will be a joint meeting with the Canaveral Section and, perhaps, the local chapter of the Society of Women Engineers. Other proposed meetings include a tour of the Harris Customer Briefing Center in Melbourne, a presentation of differences between cable and ADSL high-speed internet access, and a presentation of how e-trading works. 7. The Section has one active Student Chapter, located at FIT. 8. The Section recently adopted an updated version of the Bylaws. However, in light of changes to guidelines imposed by Headquarters, it was decided to withold submittal of the updates to Headquarters.
