Lauderdale Sections Section Meeting on March 26th EMI Design Seminar · Covered major areas of EMI design including EMI/RFI/EMC problems, European EMC directives, System design etc. Section Meeting on April 27th "Spread Spectrum Clock Techniques". · Discussion of how spread spectrum clock generation can reduce EMI emissions. · Included tour of the EMI Laboratory at Florida Atlantic University. Section & Computer Society Meeting on October 2nd "The Year 2000 Problem from an Engineering Perspective" · Follow up to March meeting, which included a variety of different speakers. Focussed on overlooked aspects of the Y2K problem. Section & Power Engineering Meeting on October 5th "The Digital Revolution" · Video presentation of 1999 IEE Faraday Lecture. Section & Communication Society Meeting on October 28th "How to Start a Technology Business" · Presentation of the challenges faced by tech start-ups, given by Mr. Jim Poitras, who has started several successful companies, and was featured in the IEEE Entrepreneurial Skills Workshop. Power Engineering meeting on December 12th - "Addressing the Y2K Problem in Schools" · Video presentation describing challenges and recommendations on tackling the Y2K problem at educational institutions of all levels. Other Activities: · Had 2 attendees for the 1999 PACE Conference · Expanded e-mail distribution list to cover half of Section members · Held Section Elections in December
