                WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA SECTION
        THE INSTITUTE OF ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS ENGINEERS

                    REPORT TO
                NORTH CAROLINA COUNCIL
                    APRIL 5, 2000


    1.  The officers report and the financial report were filed with 
        headquarters on time.

    2.  At the Engineers Week Dinner presentations were made of the two         
    Millennium Medals provided to our section.  The recipiants were Torry 
    Wickwire and Doug Nuttall. We had a good turnout for the meeting.
    We instigated a new item this year,i.e., that each society bring and 
    display their banners...IEEE was the only one present. The 
    recipiants also received the certificates.

    3.  Two members will be representing the section at the SoutheastCon 00 
        in Nashville, the Section chair and the PACE chair.

    4.  The sections finances are in good shape.

    5.  Since the headquarters will probably not get the spring edition of 
        the Region 3 beige book out until the fall , the following new 
        officers are listed here:
