                      Report for Jan 2001 Excom


The PAOC plans a slightly different year of activities for the Region
3 PACE representatives.  In 2001, IEEE-USA will not have a
Professional Development Conference to train and educate engineers
about professional topics.  Instead, IEEE-USA plans to organize
training for a limited number of PACE representatives from this Region
(and the other US regions) at a IEEE-USA Board series of meetings in
the first half of the year.  As the plans for this training progress,
we will inform our PACE representatives of the details.

We will have an excellent opportunity to train our PACE and Section
representatives at the SouthEastCon 2001 in Clemson.  George McClure,
our Region 3 PACE Leader, will lead the training session.  Since this
will be the best time to train our Region's leaders, I encourage all
Excom members to invite local leaders to attend SEC 01 in Clemson.
Clemson is close to many sections and plans a great SEC 01.

The IEEE-USA Regional PACE Committee has been restructured to include
Divisional members to streamline PACE activities.  The consolidation
will conserve funds at the national level and ensure a more
concentrated PACE effort at regional and societal meetings this year.
If you know of a conference in your section, please contact the PAOC
for input of professional presence.

The PAOC co-chairs, Brian Skelton and Carl Hussey, will be contacting
all sections to update our PACE leaders records.  Most sections change
leaders in January and will be enlisting their help to update our
records and training needs.

We encourage all members to visit the IEEE-USA web pages and enroll in
the news groups and discussion groups.  The news groups will send
timely emails on professional subjects; the discussion groups post
varied topics for your review and comment.

Region 3 PAOC will encourage students to organize SPAC's and SPav's.
We had very few inquiries about these education endeavors in 2000, but
will make a renewed effort to students in 2001.
