To: Region 3 ExCom Subject: Region 3 Communications Committee Report From: William Ratcliff, Communications Committee Chair The Communications Committee has been busy over the past few months as you can tell from the reports of the committee chairs that form the Communications Committee: Public Information --- Lee Stogner Web Support --- Chip Dawson Electronic Communications Coordination --- Dave Green Newsletter Editor --- Chip Dawson e-Conferencing --- Bill Ratcliff Archive / Knowledge Management --- Vernon Powers and Charles Lord The bulk of the work of the committee has been accomplished using the e-conferencing techniques in synchronous meetings and asynchronous news groups, e-mail and the web. SoutheastCon offers yet another opportunity to interact and discover how these and other communications techniques can help your organization. It also allows you to share your experiences that can help others. One major focus for 2001 is to find better ways to understand each other and therefore perform our work more effectively and efficiently. Likewise the meeting of the Communications Committee at SoutheastCon currently scheduled for Saturday morning (31 March 2001) in Clemson, SC, is aimed at exchanging ideas, needs, issues, etc to the myriad of opportunities we all face in our work and associated communications as volunteers. No matter what hats we may wear in service of IEEE, we are all just members trying to serve each other and our communications are key to that end. I look forward to seeing you in Clemson.
