Region 3 ExCom

Director Riddle convened the ExCom at 8:25pm.  He recognized the
guests at the meeting.

Director Riddle reported that the Region strongly support the Canaveral
Section Milestone.  He reported that Vernon Powers had agreed to work
on this issue and he asked the Florida Council to also be very
supportive of this event.

The ExCom adopted a modified agenda.  The ExCom approved it's consent
agenda which included

   1. Approval of its January 2001 Meeting as previously distributed.
   2. Receipt of the reports listed in the Information Agenda.

The ExCom adopted the following motion from the Conference Committee:

  Moved that the Region 3 Excom accept and forward to the Region 3
  Committee a proposal from the Jamaica Section to host SoutheastCon
  2003.  This acceptance to be upon approval of details by the ExCom.

The ExCom adopted the following motion from the Finance Committee:

  Moved that the Region 3 Operations Manual limit on the Region 3
  conference reserve cap be raised from $50,000 to $100,000.

Treasurer Hickman reminded the group that the mileage reimbursement
rate is $0.345 per mile.  The spreadsheet linked to the Region 3
meeting has the current rate.

The Conference Committee asked the ExCom to discuss ways to expedite
the acceptance process for approval for a bid for SoutheastCon 2004
such that Region Committee action can be obtained prior to April 2002.
After discussion, the ExCom concluded that there was no problem
conducting the approval process by electronic conference or mail vote.
The ExCom thought it was reasonable to announce a 60 day deadline for
"intent to bid" and a 90 day deadline for receipt of bids.

Director Riddle announced the fall meeting is tentatively scheduled
for 26-28 October 2001 in Jamaica.  Final information should be
available by 15 April 2001.
