Hampton Roads Section Report to Virginia Council - March 24, 2001

Officers for this year are: Chair - Sam Simmons, Vice-Chair - William
Edmonson, Secretary - Tim Gavin, Acting Treasurer - Tim Gavin.

In January we hosted our annual student paper contest with entries
from Hampton University and Old Dominion University.  Our February
speaker covered Earth Leakage (ground fault) Breakers for the 60 to
600 ampere range.  And our March group learned about Bioelectrics and
the research being conducted on the effects of different voltage
potentials on cells.

Hampton Roads will be hosting the Second International Symposium on
Nonthermal Medical and Biological Treatments using Electromagnetic
Fields and Ionized Gases in May.  Our Section hopes to be represented
at the symposium since IEEE is one of the sponsors.
