Wednesday, September 20, 2000; joint Palm Beach Section & FAU Student Section (Presentation #1) TOPIC: Robotic Design and Machine Visions Systems · Speaker Butch Shadwell presented his talk on Machine Vision systems September 20, 2000; joint Palm Beach Section & Communications Society Chapter Meeting (Presentation #2) Topic "BLUETOOTH TECHNOLOGY AND CELLULAR-BASED MOBILE INTERNET SERVICES: A LATIN AMERICA PERSPECTIVE" · Speaker Dr. Sal Yazbeck and a special guest speaker from Motorola discussed consumer device interoperability and service optimization issues. · The presentation explored the relation between Bluetooth, WAP, and other mobile wireless connectivity solutions, and it · Explored market and commercial viability in developing new value added services using Bluetooth and the challenges in developing these mobile products. Financial Advantage" · Speaker Carl Hussey presented a video tape explaining why a Quarter million engineering students become and remain IEEE Members for life · The program also explored new member services. Tuesday, October 24; joint Palm Beach Section and Computer Society Chapter Meeting Topic "Engineering Department of Holy Cross Hospital Facility Tour" · The total capacity of the hospital is 587 patients. · It was recently chosen one of the nation's top 100 hospitals for cardiovascular care. · The tour included the emergency power plant, chiller, pneumatic tube system, and incinerator. Other Activities: · Expanded e-mail distribution list to cover half of Section members · Participated in "ENGINEERS WEEK 2000 BANQUET" on February 23, 2000 · Sent out monthly bulletin announcement via the Internet on 2 occasions · Held 3 Ex-comm meetings during months of March, July and August to replace the 2 officers that stepped down · Revamped the Section Website making it more interactive · Held Section Elections in December · Held Awards Banquet on January 13th, 2001
