Professional Activies Operations Committee (PAOC) Report for SoutheastCon 2001 The Strategic Planning Committee has challenged the PAOC to 1) encourage and challenge better qualified students to consider engineering careers, 2) provide members with electronic media about all aspects of engineering, and 3) enhance the image of engineers at events such as National Engineers Week. Using the methods listed below, the PAOC will work toward each goal. At SoutheastCon 2001, George McClure will teach all available PACE representatives and other Section officers how to enhance our members using the three SPC challenges above. Please attend any and all sessions with George and his team of teachers. IEEE-USA will host a PACE Workshop in Tampa in late April. Region 3 has nominated 10 PACE representatives and 2 GOLD representatives to attend and increase their effectiveness and understanding about professional activities within the IEEE. The Workshop will provide each participant with programs and ideas for use in their local sections and throughout Region 3. The PAOC has representatives in all major committees within IEEE-USA. Our representatives are corresponding members of these national committees and provide input with a Region 3 flavor while keeping Region 3 informed of new developements.
