Student Activities Committee Region 3 Excomm Report (3/01) RSAC Chair, 2001 - Bruce Walcott RSR, 2001 - Joey Duvall RSAC Vice Chair - Stacy Wilson Update Since 1/01 Report Since the last SAC Excomm Report in January, the SAC committee met March 9-11 in New Orleans, LA. This meeting was a joint meeting with the RAB Gold committee to try to explore commonalities between the two committees. Dr. Pat Donohoe, former RSAC for Region 3, presided over the committee meetings. As a result of the joint meetings, the following initiatives/proposals were made: New SAC Objectives: Promote the retention of members especially the elevation from Student member to Member Promote the value of IEEE membership to students, both members and non-members Promote student professional and technical development activities Also, SAC unanimously approved a motion to RAB that a GOLD representative be added as a voting member of SAC. Website Contest The following e-mail went out concerning the international web site contest: Dear IEEE Region 3 Student Branch Counselors and IEEE Student Leaders: ALERT!! Enter the IEEE Student Website Contest - It's Easy!! I know that many of you are putting the finishing touches on your hardware contest entry or polishing your paper, but here is an opportunity to compete with other student branches around the world with very little effort on your part. The 2001 IEEE Web Site Contest will transpire April 1st thru May 1st. All Region 3 web sites are eligible. To enter, simply send me an e-mail with the following subject header: "IEEE Student Branch Web Site Contest" with the following information: The URL of your web site The name of your student branch The e-mail address of your web site administrator Your name and e-mail address (if you are not the administrator) The deadline for entering the contest is April 1st and judging for Region 3 will occur between April 1st and April 15th with the Region 3 winner being forwarded on to compete with the other nine winners internationally. Last year, the University of Tennessee at Knoxville garnered first place regional honors and placed third internationally.
