16 March 2001 10:00 AM EST TO: Region 3 ExCom Region 3 Committee Region 3 Secretary FROM: SC'02 Coordinator SUBJECT: Report for the March 31- April 1, 2001 Meeting EIGHTEEN MONTHS AND COUNTING ! We are half way there. Half way to what? Half way to Sections Congress 2002. And what is Sections Congress 2002 you ask? The most energizing IEEE conference you will ever be able to attend! Just ask any one who has attended a previous Sections Congress. Now is the time for you and your Section to be planning to send a delegate to Washington, DC in October 2002 to meet with delegates from all the Sections in the world for exchange of mutual problems and solutions. And to provide guidelines to the IEEE Board of Directors for the course of IEEE from 2002 to 2005. Your Section will need to set aside funding to pay some of your delegate's expenses. The Region is already putting aside money to help each Section, and the Regional Activities Board also provides financial support. Don't miss this opportunity to learn more about the resources available to you to energize your Section. Attached (below) is the notice of the specific dates and location. Daniel W. Jackson SC'02 Co-Coordinator Daniel W. Jackson 540-774-0484 d.jackson@ieee.org ===================================================================== SECTIONS CONGRESS 2002 FIRST SECTIONS CONGRESS of the TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY Daniel W. Jackson & Butch Shadwell SC'02 Co-Coordinators The first Sections Congress of the twenty-first century will be held in Washington, D.C., 18-21 October 2002 at the J.W. Marriott Hotel on Pennsylvania Avenue, two blocks from the White House. It is time for each section to be setting aside funds to send at least one primary delegate. Region 3 has put $7000 for SC'02 into its 2000 and 2001 budgets with the intention of adding an equal amount in 2002. This money is to be used to assist sections in covering the expenses of the primary delegates and to help provide opportunity for speakers from Region 3. We hope to have even more sections represented in '02 than we had in '99. The Region 3 funding plan was distributed last year at the April 2000 Region Committee meeting. If your Section did not get a copy, contact Dan Jackson for a copy. Butch Shadwell and Dan Jackson will be co-coordinators for SC'02. Butch will be working with the sections in the southern part of the Region and Dan with those in the northern part in an attempt to have all sections benefit from Sections Congress. If you have questions about Sections Congress 2002 contact Dan Jackson d.jackson@ieee.org or Butch Shadwell b.shadwell@ieee.org .
