Report to Region 3 ExCom for SoutheastCon 2002

March 13, 2001

1. Hotel Contract has been signed with Embassy Suites in Columbia, SC

2. Preliminary design of student hardware competition is completed and
   the rules will be ready for distribution at SoutheastCon2001.

3. "Call for Paper and Tutorial" will go to the printer during the
   week of March 19 and will be ready for SoutheastCon2001.  Tourist =
   Information booklets from the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce
   will also be available then.

4. Web Master is working to establish a URL.

5. SMC, a local conference services company has been chosen to manage
   the conference.  A contract is forwarded to IEEE for review and
   approval.
        
6. Fund raising activities (seeking sponsors and exhibitors) is
   planned to begin immediately following SoutheastCon 2001.

7. Important dates are established as follows:

   April 15, 2001 Call for Paper and Tutorial mailed

   August 1, 2001 Second mailing sent

   November 1, 2001 Initial full-length refereed paper due

   December 1, 2001 Initial abstract of unreferreed paper due

   December 1, 2001 Proposals for tutorials and workshops due

   Mid-January, 2002 Authors notified of acceptance/rejection of paper

   February 17, 2002 Camera-ready paper and presentation materials due

   March 1, 2002: Conference Proceedings printed
