Region 3 Corporate Relations Committee Report October 12, 2001 Marilyn Catis was appointed to the newly created position of IEEE Corporate Relations Manager and started work with Region 3 at the beginning of 2001. The R-3 Corporate Relations Committee's 2001 Goals included expanding the Pilot CD-ROM project to all IEEE Regions. Rather than use CD medium, the R-3 Corporate Relations pilot is moving from CD to a Corporate Relations Web Community. The Internet provides a more comprehensive vehicle to share information. Marilyn has developed content and promoted the web community to other IEEE entities. The Corporate Relations effort is becoming an Institute wide effort, not just a region driven pilot or RAB project. The following groups will be represented on the Corporate Relations Web Community site. IEEE Sections and Chapters This part of the site will be piloted by Region 3 and people who demonstrated an interest in collaborating on the expansion of the R3 Corporate Relations CD-ROM Pilot project. Marilyn is gathering the names of volunteers to help evaluate the Web Community Pilot. All members of the Region 3 Executive Committee are invited to participate in the pilot of the Corporate Relations Web Community - web site URL, user id and password will be available shortly. Membership Development Volunteers and Staff This part of the Corporate Relations Web Community site will deal with issues specific to Membership Development. Marilyn is working with Mike Binder and Dianne Salerno on staff in RAB to set up the pilot user group, populate the site with relevant information and open forum discussions. There are about 40 MD individuals who will participate in the pilot user group. IEEE Standards Association Corporate Members This part of the site will deal with IEEE Standards issues as they relate to their corporate membership. They have over 40 representatives who will be part of the pilot user group. Marilyn is working with Karen McCabe on staff in Standards to determine the best way to announce this new communication tool to the standards group. Industry Outreach Guidance This is where the updated materials from the R3 Corporate Relations CD-ROM Pilot project live. This section only contains guidance. All users will be able to view the materials posted here. This is where we'll be able to post Best Practices from all three segments. Next Steps The community is expected to go live in November. We need to pilot the site first before we open it up to all regions. We anticipate promoting the site in the December issue of the Institute. If all goes well completing the pilot, it will be rolled out to all regions and instructions on how to participate in the web community will be included in the Institute article.
