Gold Training Motion by Sean Haynes Moved that the Gold Training Trial program be funded for 2002 as described below in the following proposal. ------------------- I would like to make the following proposal for discussion at the upcoming Region 3 EXCOM. I would like to get approval for establishing an annual Regional GOLD Leadership Training Session to held during the Region 3 Meeting at SouthEastCON. This Training Session would be a half-day training session, much like the current PACE Training Session. The Regional GOLD Representative would be responsible for hosting the training. The Region would subsidize the sections who send a GOLD Rep to the Training Session. The subsidy would account for approximately 50% of the expenses (e.g. Region pays transportation cost, Section pays hotel & Registration fees). I would like to hold the first session at next year's SEC. I would be willing to mentor the RGR in the session. Also, the RAB GOLD committee is currently working establishing a RGR training program (i.e. Train the Trainer) that will be held annually to coincide the annual GOLD RAB committee meeting. In order to accomplish this, we would need to have money budgeted for the following: 1) RGR Travel to RAB GOLD Committee Meeting. 2) Section GOLD Reps Travel to SEC. (Assume 10 1st year). 3) Miscellaneous Expenses (e.g. Training Materials, etc). My estimated budget is: #1 - Airfare, Meals & Hotel for RGR to RAB GOLD Mtg - $750 #2 - Airfare for Section GOLD Rep Travel to SEC - $350 x 10 = $3500 #3 - Miscellaneous - $250 This works out to a budget of about $4500. This session is necessary in order to help the section GOLD representatives become the future leaders of the Region and IEEE. Many of the GOLD people that have tried to start programs at the section level have failed due to lack of training and support. By bringing the section GOLD reps to SoutheastCON it gives them opportunity to get both PACE and GOLD training. They will also get the opportunity to meet the leadership of IEEE. We will run this training as a trial program. I beleive that as we get the information presented at the meeting down into the Section Training materials, we may be able hold this program on a semi-annual basis. After this year's training, we will reevaluate the program and determine what the Region's needs may be.
