South Carolina Council of IEEE Report to region 3 excom december, 2001 SC Council officers for 2002 Chair - Marilene Guardia-Baker Vice-chair - Steve Carroll Treasurer - Nancy Gunderson Secretary - Brent Baker Past Chair Allen Thomas is commended for the dedication and guidance he has provided to this Council in the past two years. Meetings There were three council meetings held during this past year in Columbia, SC. I am pleased to announce that the Central Savannah Section is active again, thanks to the efforts of T. David Mills, Section Chair. All four SC Sections are therefore in active status and doing well. We had a very busy year with back to back SouthEast Conferences held in our state. The 2001 Clemson SEC was great, and the 2002 Columbia SEC is in the works. Our heartfelt thanks to Nancy Gunderson, SC Council Treasurer, for stepping in to fill the empty SEC Chair post when the elected Chair moved out of the state in mid-year. Activities Student Paper Contest State level contest will be held in February, award levels are $150 for first, $100 for second, and $75 for third. SC Council Awards Three awards are given annually: Lathrop Award for Outstanding Engineering Educator Smith Award for Outstanding Engineer Biedenbach Award for Outstanding Industry SC Council By-laws Update Vote in progress.
