As incoming Region 3 Membership Development Chair in 2002, I would
like to take this opportunity to thank Butch Shadwell for his
leadership as Region 3 Membership Development Chair for the past two
years.  It is my honor to serve Region 3 and continue the good work
that Butch has done for Region 3.


My major goal during my term is to find, encourage, sign up and
support 376 new Senior Members in Region 3.  I can achieve this goal
if I can get your help in the Areas, Councils and Sections.  We have a
number of deserving members that can take this next step in their IEEE
career, we just need to find and motivate this towards this honor.


Other goals for the next two years include,

1.  Build a solid Membership Development Committee - Please help me
    find volunteers throughout Region 3 that want to help with this
    important function.

2.  Ensure that all Areas / Councils / Sections share in the membership goals.
3.  Interface to and represent Region 3 at the IEEE Membership
    Development level.

4.  Distribute Membership Development information on Special MD
    programs to all Region 3 Areas / Councils / Sections / Chapters.

5.  Maintain ongoing contact throughout the Region by the use of email
    / web site / articles / e conferencing.

6.  Encourage the Region 3 membership to believe and support that we
    are the best region in IEEE.
