To: Region 3 ExCom From: Dick Riddle Region 3 Past Director Subject: Past Directors Report 1-14-02 MOVING FORWARD - A NEW YEAR As we make ready to hold our first Region 3 ExCom meeting for the year 2002, we are hopeful that this year will be much better than the last. In spite of the tragic event of September 11, 2001 and the continuing economic recession, Region 3 had another successful year. We continue to be recognized for the many innovative contributions made by our volunteer members to improve the services offered by our region and by IEEE. Many of the programs or projects that were first developed and debugged within Region 3 are now available as services offered by IEEE to all members world-wide. Because of our history of developing and implementing innovative projects, Region 3 has become known as "the incubator for IEEE programs". I would like to again express my appreciation to you the volunteer leaders and Region 3 ExCom members who have given so much of your time and talents to make my term of office as Region 3 Director a successful and rewarding experience. As I try to learn my new jobs as Past Director, N&A Committee Chair, SPC Vice Chair, and maybe one or two others that may come my way I hope that I can count on your continued support and advice. I feel sure that you will join me in giving your time and talents in support of our new Director Jim Howard as he strives to make 2002 another successful year for our region. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Richard L.
