Area 8 Report March 27, 2002 

The three sections of Area 8, Evansville-Owensboro, Lexington and
Louisville, continue to be healthy and active. All sections have been
encouraged to send a representative to Southeastcon '02 and indicate
that they are making an effort to do so.

Dr. Tony Richardson, Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering at
the University of Evansville is now the Vice Chair for Area 8.  Tony
is also the Vice Chair of the Evansville-Owensboro section.

Evansville-Owensboro Section Chair, Paul Kuban, has taken the first
steps to dissolve the Paducah Subsection, which has been inactive for
several years.  A letter was sent to all IEEE members in the Paducah
geographical area explaining that the subsection will be dissolved
unless they take positive steps to reactivate it.  No response to that
letter was received.  The remaining issue to be resolved before asking
for dissolution is to recover the subsection treasury.
