Piedmont Section Report IEEE March, 2002 Chairman Mark Stokes Secretary/Treasurer Nick Pasquerilla Activities · Continuing to work with Student branch at Clemson University on meetings. · Continuing to maintain the Piedmont section Web page. · We only mail around 3 "hard copy" newsletters per year. Postal savings allow us to provide free food at section meetings. · Assisted the local chapter of the National Society of Professional Engineers in high school and middle school visits for National Engineers week · We "probably" will be contributing our proceeds from Southeastcon2001 to the Clemson University Foundation. This will pay partial scholarships for an Electrical Engineering student and a Computer Engineering student each year. Historical note: this was originally set up in 1980 with proceeds from our previous SoutheastCon. · Plan to send a section representative to Sections Congress 2002 in Washington DC. · Closed SoutheastCon2001 on time. Providing assistance to SoutheastCon2002 as they request it. · Sent in 2001 reports to IEEE on time to receive 10% bonus. Discussion Topics · We lost a number of officers to relocation within the past four years. The current two section officers have already held the four section offices, but have agreed to stay on. · Meetings are being held once a month except during summer. Attendance continues to be low (12 - 15), except for plant tours (40), even with FREE FOOD!!
