Conference Committee Mid-Year 2002 Report

Don Hill, R3 Conference Committee Chair

Steve Carroll has agreed to help with the Conference Committee as
Vice-Chair for 2002.  Steve is helping the SEC04 committee with planning
their conference.  Steve also is logging all IEEE conferences in Region
3 for inclusion on our web page.  Jim Beall, our mentor, has suggested
we streamline this logging and link to the IEEE web page for
conferences; we will evaluate how this can best be implemented before
the end of this year (Region 3 Goal).

The fine committee for SEC02 has completed its report its conference.
The committee's final acts will be to close the conference account as
soon as the three disbursement checks clear, forward the closing report
to HQ, and celebrate a good conference.  Thanks again to the committee
for a fine conference.

Charles Lord and his registration committee has created a software
package for logging all registrant revenue, names, addresses, etc. for a
conference.  If you need to use this product at a Region 3 conference,
please let Charles know about your intentions.  The Committee thanks
Charles and his committee for this useful product.

The SEC03 committee continues to meet regularly.  Their report is
listed as a separate item.

The SEC04 committee continues with conference planning.

The Conference Committee still needs sections to bid for SEC05, SEC06,
and SEC07.  We have several sections that have shown interest in these
conferences, but none have forwarded their proposals.  Now is the time
to jump on the wagon and forward your proposal to the Committee.

Charles Lord presented an informative lesson about how to give a
conference.  Many of you left with enthusiasm and excitement.  Contact
the Committee with any ideas about holding a conference in your section.
