From: Region 3 Communications Committee To: Region 3 ExCom, Region 3 Committee Subject: Region 3 Communications Committee Status 3/21/2003 The focus of the Communications Committee continues to be in the following areas... => Increase Concentration on Web Sites The currency of the web site contents is of prime importance and steps have been taken to update the Region 3 pages as well as help the individual committees. A project with Web support and Electronic Communications has been initiated to address update access to the web sites by the individual committees. Please see Chip Dawson's report for additional status items. => Expand the production of Newsletters (electronic and hardcopy) A project to "re-engineer the Region 3 Newsletter including format, content and production guidelines has been initiated with Butch Shadwell as the project manager. Please review the reports from Marvin Neiditz Newsletter Editor and the report from Butch Shadwell for further status. => Remote Meetings, Presentations, Training Charles Lord has conducted several remote presentations to Sections within Region 3. Some of the tests were "live presentations" at Section's meetings. The results of these and other tests are part of the approach that has been successfully used in the past " eating our own dog food". Please review Charles Lord's reports for further details and ways in which you can get involved. => Enhance PR / Public Information Please review Dave Bowers report for status of the on going Public Relations activities. => Get Moving on Archive Management Archive management has a strong connection to the region's knowledge management philosophy. Progress in these areas is on hold awaiting sufficient resources to begin project definition. => Expand the use of e-Conferencing The Communications Committee continues to meet (e-conference) on a regular basis. Few requests for assistance have been received. Please review the e-Conferencing Committee report for further insight. In an effort to understand and hopefully publicize the Products and Services that Region 3 has to offer, the Communications Committee has agreed to assemble the list provided by your Committee's input. Only a fraction of the organizations have responded to the e-mails sent (2/27 and 3/52003). Please take some time either before or during the meetings at SoutheastCon to prepare a list of the Products and Services and the associated customers so we can enhance the knowledge of the capabilities Region 3 has to offer. See you on the net (3/24 and 3/262003) and in Jamaica. Respectfully submitted: William B. Ratcliff Region 3 Communications Committee Chair 2003
