Region 3 Director's Report
March 20, 2003

On January 8, 2003 the Region held its first Executive Committee
meeting of the year, as an Econference.  That meeting covered the
various plans of each Committee, Area and Council Chair, and Officers
for the coming year.  Each of these groups has set Goals and
Objectives for 2003 and will be reporting on these as we progress
through the year.

Our next meeting will be held in conjunction with our annual
SoutheastCon Regional meeting and conference, April 4-6, 2003 in
Jamaica.  As with each year, we hope to have a representative from
each Section at this meeting, and will be sharing with the
Sections/Chapters, information, leadership training, as well as asking
the attendees for feedback on what we can be doing to support the
Sections & Chapters in their daily operations.

As your Region Director, and on behalf of the Region, I have attended
the following meetings:

- IEEE Board of Directors Meeting, Dallas, TX, February 13-16, 2003
- IEEE Engineering Management Governing Board Dinner, Orlando, FL,
  January 25, 2003
- IEEE Regional Activities Board, Strategic Planning Committee
  meeting, Ft.  Lauderdale, FL, January 17-19, 2003

Additionally, I have been asked, and am serving on the following IEEE
Committees:
- IEEE Audit Committee (serving as Chair)
- IEEE President's Ad Hoc Committee on ÒTrustÓ

Regional Meetings:
- Region 3 Executive Committee Econference, January 8, 2003
- Region 3 Ad Hoc Planning Committee Meeting, February 22, 2003

One additional item -- as many of you know, our Region will be hosting
the 2005 Sections Congress in the Florida West Coast Section.  Last
year I was very pleased to be elected by the Regional Activities Board
to serve as the Steering Committee Chair for this Congress, and will
be in that position until after the 2005 Sections Congress.  As part
of those duties, we recently had a 2005 Section's Congress Meeting, in
Tampa, FL on Saturday, March 15, 2003.

I look forward to seeing all of you at the upcoming SoutheastCon
Meeting in Jamaica.
