Each meeting includes a dinner, a guest speaker, and an attendance prize raffle. Two of our meetings utilize student speakers who discuss a student project. Other speakers are representatives of industry and academia. * The Section distributes a monthly newsletter to announce meetings and other news. The Chair is responsible for editing the newsletter and creating most of its contents. * The University of Southern Indiana student section is responsible for copying, folding, and mailing the newsletter. The Section reimburses the student group for costs, and also includes some additional financial compensation. * The Section provides financial support to theUniversityofEvansville's annual engineering banquet. This event also doubles as one of our monthly meetings. * The Vice-Chair attended Section Congress 2002. The Chair has asked for flight cost reimbursement to the Section, but has not received anything yet. * All 2002 reports were submitted on time. * Student branches at University of Southern Indiana and University of Evansville have been active and attending section functions. Goals: * Encourage Senior Member upgrades. * Continue on-going relationships with industry, government and academia. * Continue to support student activities. * Examine email newsletter distribution as a cost-saving measure. * Arrange for more plant tours and field trips. (Most companies are reluctant to allow this since9-11-2001.) * Begin a dialog with the people in charge of the (1980's vintage) database program in order to facilitate the creation or acquisition of a modern, more reliable tool.
