Subject: Hampton Roads Section Report

The Hampton Roads section of the IEEE did not have a meeting in
December and January was canceled due to bad weather. January meeting
is normally when the student paper contest is held but was done at
February meeting. We had 4 groups participating: 2 from Old Dominion
University, 1 from Hampton University, and 1 from Norfolk State
University. As of this moment a team from ODU and a team from HU will
be participating in the paper contest at Southeastcon in Jamaica. We
have financially supported HU HW design team that is expected to bring
its design to Southeastcon. There progress is slow but we hope to have
a review of their work at our March meeting.  There is a plan to have
a special meeting for the sole purpose of bringing together all those
member who want to move up to senior member. We have lost a very
important section member in Sam Simmons due to death.

The attendance at our meetings has been approximately 10-15, though at
February meeting there were approximately 25+ people.
