The section is celebrating our 50th year and is planning to commemorate this later in the year. The Huntsville Section meets once a month for one hour, where we discuss the section business. The chapters also update their status and the student chapter is involved as well. We update the status of conferences and other local activities and discuss future plans. The section hosted AutoTestCon02 in October of last year. The conference was successful and we had a lot of local help to pull it together. Several members of the section ExCom were involved in the planning and Pat Griffin was the conference chair. The Huntsville Section is hosting RadarCon03 in Huntsville in May, 2003. Several ExCom members along with local help are involved in the planning of this conference. Dr. Bob McMillan is the chair of RadarCon03. We are grateful to the region for the seed money they granted along with AES. The committee is busy pulling the conference together with a month to go. The section is involved with the robot competition at SouthEastCon with the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) student branch participating. We are involved at the junior high and high school level in judging regional and state Science Fairs and awarding students in math, science, computer science, and engineering with a US Savings Bond. We are also involved in other K-12 programs. The society chapters have several beneficial speaker presentations during the year. The AES chapter is active in holding meetings along with supporting RadarCon03. The communication chapter is actively holding meetings about every moth to every other in various areas of signal processing and related topics. The control society is active and in the process of transferring to a new chair. The computer society has been very active with new leadership this year. The GOLD society is in the process of being revived after having no leadership for the last year.
