Region 3 Nominations and Appointments Committee Report -
March 17, 2003

The following are members of the Region 3 N&A Committee:
Dick Riddle Chair (Past Director 2000-2001)
Dale Caston (Past Director 1998-1999)
Jim Beall (Past Director 1996-1997)

2003 Region 3 Nominations and Appointments Committee Goals:
*Provide a list of possible candidates for Region Committees
*Identify key members within the Region for future Regional Committees.
*Assist Committees with selection of Vice-Chairs
*Work with Director-Elect to begin to form his ExCom.
*Recommend candidates for Regional Director-Elect

The following is a summary of the progress toward meeting these goals:

** During December of 2002 the N&A Committee worked with Director
   Howard in selecting the 2003 Region 3 ExCom. All ExCom positions
   were filled by election and/or by appointment.

** On January 14, 2003, Dave Green on behalf of Director Howard
   informed IEEE Corporate Activities that the Region 3 Committee had
   approved Don Hill and George McClure be place on the IEEE ballot as
   candidates for Region 3 Delegate/Director-Elect for 2004-2005. The
   successful candidate will become Region 3 Delegate/Director for
   2006-2007.

** In April or May of 2003 the N&A Committee will call for nominations
   for the 2004 Region 3 Executive Committee. The N&A Committee will
   be working with Director-Elect Bill Harrison to fill all 2004 ExCom
   appointed positions prior to the last ExCom meeting in 2003.

** All Region 3 ExCom Standing Committees and some Ad Hoc Committees
   have appointed a Vice Chair. We encourage the Chairs of these
   committees work with their Vice Chairs in developing their
   leadership abilities so that they can assume the Chair of their
   respective committee or other leadership roles within the Region.

** Identify key members within the Region for future Regional
   Committees is an on-going goal for the Region 3 N&A Committee but
   can not be accomplished without the help of all members within the
   region. If you are interested in a leadership role or know someone
   who is please let us know.

The goals for the Region 3 Nominations and Appointments Committee are
on-going and are accomplished as needed when the committee is notified
that assistance is required.
