Subject: Past Director's Report Revised 3-23-03

As we get ready for SoutheastCon 03 in Jamaica, I send my greetings to
all and look forward to an outstanding Region 3 Conference. I would
also like to commend our R 3 Conference Support Committee for their
work in making this conference a success. I also commend the Jamaica
Section for planning and executing what I feel sure will be a
remarkable SoutheastCon the first to be held outside of the United
States.

As the current Past Director of Region 3 one of my duties is to serve
as Director Howard's emissary and sometimes antagonist to other
regional units such as the North Carolina Council, South Carolina
Council, and Virginia Council. On March 1 of this year I attended the
VA Council meeting in Lexington, VA. As some of you who live in NC and
VA will remember just two days before our meeting we had a record
breaking snow and ice storm that resulted in about 300,000 homes being
without power for several days after the storm. I am happy to report
that we had an excellent meeting at VMI and the Virginia Sections are
active and doing well. I look forward to attending the NC and SC
Council meetings this year as soon as I know their schedule.
