Region 3 PIO report


I've attended several IEEE meetings at various regional IEEE meetings,
including PACE to talk with and collect information regarding PIO
activities. While at these meetings, I've attended any "PR" type
meetings held. Also, I've talked with IEEE Headquarters to gain
additional input. The first effort will be a recommendation "package"
for sections to use when promoting their meetings and activities to
both the print and TV/radio media. It is felt that using "free"
publicity submitted to the media will help to increase attendance at
IEEE section meetings, encourage non-members to join IEEE, and
generally "get the word out to the public" about what the IEEE
sections are doing.

My plan is to work with the appropriate Region 3 people to complete
this initiative and to submit an article to the Region 3 Newsletter to
get the information package to the various sections in Region 3.
