Sb: Motion Carries -- SoutheastCon 2005 to be hosted by Broward Section

As you know, Director Howard and Conference Committee Chair Don Hill
have requested an ASYNC vote on awarding SoutheastCon 2005 to Broward
Section with Nova University Student Branch.  The Region 3 Committee
has delegated this decision to the ExCom given the fact that it is
important to catch up the conference time line.

The Region 3 Conference Committee has reviewed the proposal and
proposed Conference Committee Chair Eric Ackerman has worked with the
committee to satisfy their concerns and the resulting proposal has the
recommendation of the Conference Committee.  The motion is

  Region 3 accepts the bid of the Broward Section to host SoutheastCon
  2005 to and directs the Treasurer to issue the $3000 seed money for
  the conference upon request of the SoutheastCon 2005 General Chair.

As it comes from the conference committee, it needs no second.

Pursuant to our rules (see
https://ewh.ieee.org/reg/3/excom/meetings/2001-10/async-voting.txt),
we have just concluded a week of asynchronous discussion on this
motion on our r3-excom2003@ieee.org mailing list followed by a vote
for a period of one week and one day.

The results are:

   YES VOTES:  19
   NO  VOTES:   0
   ABSTAIN:     0
   SYNC VOTE:   0

The motion carries (unanimously) and let us congratulate Eric Ackerman
for his efforts thus far and pledge our support to assist him in a
successful SoutheastCon 2005.

I assume that the Region 3 Treasurer and Eric (as Conference Chair)
will work through the details of getting the seed money.

I will place an this report as an item on the July ExCom Information
Agenda to make sure it is officially recorded but it is an official
vote and result by our rules now.
