Updates on Goals and Objectives for 2003

ECC_1 Keeping the aliases current.

   Continuing action.  I believe we are current but see above if there
   are changes that are necessary.  Brian Swail is helping here -- thanks!

ECC_2 Keeping the services functioning including
      a) update to operating system on ie3col and
      b) newsgroup revitalization

   Routine patches applied.  Upgrades still pending.

   Added a tool to allow members to be noted when content added to
   R3 Newsgroups.  Coupled with TWiki notification, both of our Async
   Services can be configured to notify users when there is new
   content.

   Participating in trial of a Region 3 Virtual Community and
   providing support.

   Participating in IEEE efforts to create a SPAM service for the
   IEEE Alias service.

ECC_3 Decomissioning the ETI database towards middle or end of year
      (assuming a hardware failure does not move us to earlier action
      and assuming the PAOC is satisfied with their new replacement
      approach.)

   Pending.

   If the replacement project is advancing nicely, I would like to
   accelerate the decommisioning.  Changes in the UAB environment
   will require changes to the ETI servers which could be avoided
   if an earlier decommisioning is acceptable.

ECC_4 Be active members on the Communications Committee (and
   sub-committees)

   Continuing action
