IEEE Region 3 Leadership Development Report
July 14, 2003

The Leadership Development Committee now meets monthly via e-conf on
the fourth Wednesday of each month.  Currently, I have the following
people participating:

Bill Ratcliff
David Green
Jim Howard
Bill Harrison
Charles Hickman
Dick Riddle
Bob Duggan
Jim Beall
Reed Thompson

There were two sessions held at SoutheastCon 2003 in Jamaica and a
fall training session is tenatively planned for Atlanta.

Per my January objectives:

1. Build a Leadership Development Committee with representation from
   all Area/Councils

This is in progress.  I have experienced IEEE leaders identified in
each area and am in the progress of recruiting those not already
on-board.

2. Recruit a Vice Chair for the Leadership Development Committee

Still not done.

3. Recruit trainers in most (if not all) Areas/Councils

See #1 above.

4. Develop and hold a train-the-trainer workshop for the trainers

This was decided by powers that be to be unnecessary, as experienced
volunteers should be able to pick up materials and present.

5. Work with RAB and other resources to develop and post resources to
   the R3 web

This is in progress.  The resources are all available on-line, but are
not linked to a single page source.

6. Plan and carry out at least two leadership development workshops /
   retreats in R3 Councils

There was a session in Jamaica held for Area 9 that was well received.
There is tenatively a session planned for Atlanta in November that
will be intended for all areas and councils.

7. Work with the other R3 committees to develop and carry out
   specialized training as needed.

I stand ready to provide these services when requested.
