Southcon Report to Region 3 ExCom meeting July 14 and 16, 2003. The Southcon Board of Directors met face to face on Saturday July 12, 2003 at CBX Electronics in Orlando. Director Riddle met with us by phone. Past Director Howard was also in attendance. Business before the Board was mainly details of the 2004 Show to be in Orlando, January 14-15 at the Orange County Convention Center. The show will be co-located with AMCON, American Contract Manufactures Show. This co-location was also done in 2002. It should be remembered that the contractor ECI is financially responsible for and runs the show. This year the Southcon Board has agreed to identify and obtain technical courses for the conference part of the show. Southcon receives only a small portion of the gross revenue for use of its name and attendance promotion. The details seem to be in good order. A general discussion about trade shows was held. Wescon is in dire straights. Current booth sales are 255 with a hope for 350 to 400. This is down from over 700 last year. Our booth sales for the past two years was 84 and 96. We are hoping for over 100 in 2004. 150 would be great , but doubtful. We held a discussion about future locations for the Southcon Show including dates out to 2007. Some of these require inquiries to the areas considered. James Beall, Region 3 Southcon Director
