IEEE SC Council Report The South Carolina Council is comprised of four Sections: Central Savannah River Sectionhttps://ewh.ieee.org/r3/csr Coastal SC Sectionhttps://ewh.ieee.org/r3/csc Columbia Sectionhttps://ewh.ieee.org/r3/columbia Piedmont Sectionhttps://ewh.ieee.org/r3/piedmont Some of the Sections are having banner years, with increased amount of meetings and attendance, while others are still working on improving their member participation. Information on the Sections can be found at their website, linked above. The Council has achieved most of the goals set for this year. The Council Bylaws revision was approved in June, and put into effect immediately. The Council website has been kept up to date with employment information for our members, and the contact information for the CouncilŐs ExCom have become password protected, thanks to the tireless work of Lee and Becky Stogner. Information such as home addresses and personal phone numbers are now only available to those who need to know. We have held two face to face meetings and four e-conferences so far, with one more scheduled for December 2 to review plans to send a speaker per Section to the SC Council of Engineers and Surveyors Joint Seminar on March 9, 2004. We have also worked on increasing the number of Senior Members in the four Sections, and will continue to work on this next year. Challenges include attracting Council officers from all Sections (three out of four are from the Columbia Section) and getting the students more involved with ther Sections, as well as getting the Student Branch counselors more involved in the Council. New Officers have been elected for a two-year term. The 2004-2005 Council ExCom consists of: Steve Carroll (Chair), Brent Baker (Vice Chair), John Montague (Treasurer), Richard Baker (Secretary),Lee Stogner (Professional Development and Membershp Development Committees Chair), Marilene Guardia-Baker (Past Chair and Educational Activities Committee Chair) and Allen Thomas (Past Chair and Representative to the SC Council of Engineers and Surveyors).
