Area 8 Report October 31, 2003 The three sections in Area 8 (Evansville-Owensboro, Lexington and Louisville) are enjoying another successful year in 2003. The following report from the Chair of the Lexington Section shows some of the kind of activities that the sections have enjoyed. The Lexington Section has had 8 meeting so far in 2003, including 6 technical, 1 professional, and 1 planning meeting. Topics included: Student Paper Contest Advanced Sky Warning Class Hybrid Gas-Electric Vehicles UK's Balloon-Launched High-Altitude Remotely-Controlled Glider West Nile Virus and Repelling or Killing Mosquitoes Labview IEEE Employment Services, and H1-B Visas Thanks to Chip Dawson, an Area 8 website is now functional -- https://ewh.ieee.org/reg/3/area8/. Area 8 Chair's Goals for 2003 AC8_1: Establish more frequent and consistent communication with the three sections in Area 8. Status: This goal has been partially accomplished. Additional effort is needed. AC8_2: Make sure that all sections have their reports in on time (Meetings, Officers and Financial). Status: This goal was accomplished. AC8_3: Make contact with all section chairs within Area 8 at least four times this year. Status: This effort is in progress. More diligent effort on the part of the Area 8 Chair is required to complete it successfully AC8_4: Ensure that all sections are aware of and encourage them to send a representative to Southeastcon.
