March 31-April 6 - Dave Mills represented the section at the Region 3
Meetings at SoutheastCon 2003 in Ocho Rios.

April Meeting:
Dave Mills (Section Chair) spoke about "IEEE Region 3 SoutheastCon
2003", the IEEE GOLD program and recent IEEE activities

May Meeting:
Joint Meeting with Society of Women Engineers (SWE)

September 1

September Meeting:
Member Jaclyn Spear spoke to us about the IEEE Congressional Fellows Program

October Meeting:
Charles A. White is the Director of Transition Planning, System
Control, Safety & Training for SCE&G and spokeÊabout the recent
"Northeast Blackout".

November Meeting:
Monica Mace, the Regional Director for Future City Competition spoke
to us about the program and how we can get involved with helping it be
a success.


We also held elections by acclamation due to only one candidate per
office. The results for 2004 - 2005 (2-year term):

Joe Andrews to present "Electrical Safety"


We are still working to build this section back to a very active and
productive section after being dormant for over four years. A lot of
members have come back and we are working on the other almost 100 with
either arrears or delinquent status.

We are also trying to establish GOLD activities and have a GOLD
Committee Chair in place in the person of Brandie Phillips who is a
recent college graduate working at the Savannah River Site. We have
been in contact with IEEE and the Region 3 GOLD Chair, Joey Duvall.

The next tasks ahead are revising our By-Laws, establishing a PACE
Chair, establishing an Educational Activities Chair and possibly
establishing an Industry Applications Society Chapter.
