Hampton Roads Section Report - Fall, 2003

The Hampton Roads section has been holding monthly technical meetings
since October, Sept. meeting was canceled due to huricane Isabel. New
elections will be held at our Nov. for which there will be a new chair
that will take office in Jan. We are still addressing ways to increase
membership and hope with our connection to the local universities this
will increase membership.

On October 19-22 this section supported the 18th Annual National
Educators' Workshop "Celebrating 100 Years of Flight". The support
came in funding of $1,000 which went to offsetting the registration
fees for university faculty and students. We also supplied one of the
invited speakers to the workshop, IEEE Member Dr. Amin Dharams of
ODU. His talk was title "The Lightest Touch" which was about using
light as measuring device at the nano level.
