From: Allan Long Date: November 4, 2003 Subject: Memphis Section Report - Fall, 2003 The Memphis Section of IEEE has been busy! With active chapters of the Power Engineering, Industry Applications, Computer, and Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, there have been dozens of technical offerings for our members. We have student branches at six colleges scattered throughout the Mid South. Several joint meetings have been held with the Engineers' Club of Memphis and the Tennessee Society of Professional Engineers, and the Section was a joint sponsor of the Memphis Area Engineering and Science Conference in late spring. On November 8, we are hosting our first annual members picnic, complete with a fish fry and "engineer games." Memphis is proud to be the host of SoutheastCon 2006 after our proposal was accepted at the meeting in Jamaica this past spring.
