I would like to mention the "registration fee" for Region 3 excom,
PACE, and section reps (R3 Committee) for SoutheastCon 2004.  In the
past we have charged an artificially low fee (<$50) for the meals and
other costs of attending the meetings at the conference as a
convenience to the volunteers.  However, this has made for an
ever-increasing challenge (i.e. nightmare) for the local arrangement
folks and our R3 Treasurer to reconcile the books.  As a result, both
the Region and the local SoutheastCon hosts end up losing some money
as we end up underwriting folks who would not get reimbursed in the
first place.  As a result of all of this, we are charging $110 for
each of you (and all PACE and section folks), $125 if late reg.  This
amount will then be reimbursed per the R3 Travel Policy for all
normally eligible.  This is the most fair and equitible way of
handling this.  As a long-term unemployed EE, I know this is a
potential hardship, but I think it is fair and support it.  We welcome
any discussion to this issue, but the fee has been set unless the
Director at the time (Bill Harrison) decides to change it.
