I am happy to report that LDO Project is moving forward. 
  
REGION 3 VIRTUAL COMMUNITY

The LDO project team has been using the Region 3 Virtual Community
(VC) for project planning. All members of the LDO pilot team have been
invited and most have joined the virtual community.  Our intent is to
fully utilize the virtual community to inform, collaborate, and
evaluate the project as well as the VC as a communication tool.

FIRST LDO LIVE WEB TRAINING SESSION 

At 9:00 PM on June 29, we held our first web/audio training session
using the Microsoft Office Live Meeting (Placeware) system.  This was
the first in a series of planned training sessions to provide some
tools for Mentors and Mentees.

Unfortunately, we experienced a few problems but through the efforts
of our talented Region 3 folks we were able to work around most of
them.  Prior to the training session, Charles Lord, Leadership
Development Committee Chair emailed the training material and homework
assignment to all Project and Pilot team members. Bill Ratcliff opened
the session and gave his presentation on "Leadership by Developing
Others - Preparing for the Future of IEEE".
 
The technology gremlin strikes again!  After many attempts prior to
and during the evening, Charles Lord was not able to connect with the
Internet.  So his part of the session had to be postponed.  A voice
poll of the participants was conducted and it was decided that the
next session will be held on Tuesday, July 13 at 9:00 PM EDT.
 
I feel that this first live web training session went well in spite of
the technical problems that we experienced.  I am looking forward to
our next meeting.
