Here's the SPC Report to the Summer ExCom:

1.  The SPC had e-conferences on 21 & 28 June.  Its web site is

2.  SPC 2004 Goals & Objectives are posted on the web at

    Here are the SPC 2004 G&Os and [Status/progress achieved]:

   1&2.  Update Reg 3 Strategic Plan 2005+ by 12-1-04, revising Reg 3
   goals and objectives as appropriate.  Post the Reg 3 Strategic Plan
   2005+ to the Web by 12-15-04.

   4.  Assure full SPC involvement in Leadership Development initiative.
    [SPC Vice-Chair Dick Riddle chairs the LDO program; SPC Chair Duggan
     is involved.  SPC has provided mentors to R3 committees since
     1992.]

   5.  Review Reg 3 structure and recommend combining or elimination of
   committees where appropriate by 12-1-04.
    [Constant review is underway.]

   6.  Update the Reg 3 History by 10-1-04.
    [Nothing new to report.]

   7.  Review Reg 3 Bylaws for changes by 6-1-04.  Draft needed updates
   by 9-1-04.  Approve updates by 12-1-04.
    [No changes yet identified.]

   8.  Review Reg 3 Operations Manual for changes by 6-1-04.  Draft
   needed updates by 9-1-04.  Approve updates by 12-1-04.
    [Several changes/updates under discussion.  A VC is being set up to
   discuss possible updates. V.Powers has agreed to coordinate
   changes.]

   9.  Develop a plan/budget for a strategic planning retreat by 9-1-04.
    [SP Retreat now slated for 8/21-22 in Atlanta with ~20 participants.
     Bill Ratcliff is leading planning.]

   10. Hold at least one SPC e-conference.
    [Two e-conferences held in June 2004.]

SPC looks forward to another outstanding year in Region 3.
