Area 8 Report October 6, 2004 The three sections of Area 8: Evansville-Owensboro, Lexington, and Louisville, are healthy and active. Section Chair Jeremiah Parker reports that the Evansville-Owensboro Section has approximately 260 active members. The section has held six meetings this year that have been relatively well attended. Lexington Section Chair Ray Williams reports that attendance at meetings has been up in 2004. The reason for the increased attendance is not known. However, I have noticed the outstanding promotion of the meetings that Jerry Goerz has been sending by email. I have noticed also that they have had very interesting meeting topics. Topics included the University of KY Solar Car presentation, GE Medical Imaging presentation, Doppler Weather Radar Tour (this was the best attended), Okonite Cable Manufacturing Tour, Student Paper Contest, EE Model Contest, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Tour, and Trane (Air-handler) Manufacturing Tour. The Lexington Section will be represented at the Region 3 meeting in Atlanta this month. Louisville Section Chair David Eastham reports that the section has held three meetings to date and that two more are planned this year. All is going well in the section and the section will be represented at the Region 3 meeting in Atlanta this month. Submitted by John Parr Area 8 Chair
