Hussey and Norm Bleshman Other Positions Mostly Filled ACTIVITIES * There were 3 section meetings, 3 ComSoc lectures,3 ExCom meetings and 1 eExCom meeting. Topics included Mobile Multimedia, Tablet PC, Zigbee Wireless Standard and Ultra Wideband. Attendance was from 20 to 30. No further ExComs planned. * Increased email list from meeting sign-ups. Used web based Listserv. This is a big improvement. Thanks to IEEE, Piscataway. * Mailed 1 paper newsletter. * Hurricanes Frances and Jeanne came ashore in Palm Beach section. Devastated power and communications. Section will rethink storm warning policy. August and September lost time. * No summer break for meeting schedule. People will attend during this time. Technology does not take a vacation. * Sent eBulletin monthly. Posted on website. Inserted many items from IEEE, Region and local. * Added R3 Employment Assistance and Section Employment Resources tool to website. * Florida Atlantic U branch active. Website was runner-up in nationals. * Donated to Sections Congress 2005 from guidelines. * SoutheastCon 2005 publicized in eBulletin. * Chair interviewed by local newspaper about unemployed engineers. * Provided technical support to local high school for message board project. * Publicized meeting to other engineering organizations and technology networks. * Ran section in a more business like manner. GOALS * Recruit succeeding chair and other officers. * Send representatives to Section Congress 2005. DISCUSSION ITEMS * Consider splitting joint Computer/Signal Processing chapter into two chapters. This was recommendation of Tracy Hawkins, Regional Activities. * Add a breakout session to future R3 meetings for topic of increasing meeting attendance.
