IEEE REGION 3 AREA 9 REPORT TO REGION 3 EXCOM January 5, 2005. We wish to use this opportunity to wish our colleagues in Region 3 a very safe and successful 2005. In addition to hosting monthly technical presentations for our members we wish to record our goals and objectives for 2005 as follows: 1. Increase the number of Senior Members by 3. 2. Continue dialogue with the Jamaica Government Minister with the responsibility for Technology and personnel from other related ministries, with the view of influencing technological decisions on behalf of the country. 3. Work with the Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) (Jamaica) to formulate a strategy to increase access to broad band internet services in Jamaica. 4. Host at least one public Technological Seminar or Discussion Forum. 5. Enhance the development of IEEE student chapters both at the University of the West Indies (UWI) and the University of Technology, Jamaica (UTECH). 6. Encourage Northern Caribbean University (NCU) to develop an IEEE student chapter. 7. Send Delegates to Sections Congress, SoutheastCon 2005 and PACE Activities in the USA. 8. Hold regular EXCOM and Section and Chapter Meetings.
