Central Tennessee Section Chair Report for April 2005 Region 3 Meeting

Section Officers:

Treasurer:  Chris Finen, PE (chrismfinen@eaton.com)

Section Activities:
1.  We conduct technical meetings monthly except during summer months.
2.  We conduct joint meetings with the Music City Power Group.
3.  We have held several well-attended seminars in the areas of software
development and industrial power issues.
4.  Our Section includes three active student branches at Tennessee
State University (Nashville), Vanderbilt University (Nashville) and
Tennessee Technological University (Cookeville).
5.  Due to the Section's large territory we schedule at least one
Section meeting annually in Cookeville and Tullahoma (location of the
Arnold Engineering Development Center and University of Tennessee Space
Institute).
6.  We sponsored attendance by the student branch chairs and vice-chairs
at the Engineers Week banquet in February, 2005.
7.  We were a sponsor of the 38th Southeastern Symposium on System
Theory held March 5-6, 2005 at Tennessee Technological University.
8.  Our Section periodically encourages all eligible members to apply
for Senior membership.


Challenges
1.  Address membership development.
2.  Enlist volunteers for vacant officer positions:
    Gold Chair
    Membership Chair
    PACE Chair
3.  Increase membership participation in meetings and ad hoc activities.
